Caring for Teak Garden Furniture

Monday, June 14th, 2010

There are few things more enjoyable than spending some time relaxing outdoors in your teak garden furniture. In recent years, teak garden furniture has become the most popular option to consumers because of the quality, strength and durability that the wood offers. However, even though teak furniture is relatively easy to care for, there are still a few things that need to be considered in order to make sure that it remains well looked after.

Any teak garden accessories that are consistently exposed to UV rays from the sun will need to be treated with teak oil. Excessive or long-term exposure to sunlight will have a drying effect on the wood, which will cause it to turn a dull shade over time. Periodically applying plenty of teak oil onto the furniture should be enough to prevent it losing its healthy glow. However, if the wood continues to look weathered, even after your initial treatment, you will need to apply the teak oil more frequently.

Another way of protecting wooden garden accessories is to cover them with purpose made tarpaulins during adverse conditions. This is most important during the winter months, when the wood dries up. Any water that leaks into the wood will tend to freeze up, causing it to split and break in places. An even better option is to cover the furniture in a tarpaulin, and then store it in a waterproof garage over the course of the winter.

Quick Ways to Spice Up Your Garden

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

If you’re planning a barbeque or a garden party, or you just want to do something fresh with your garden this spring, there are plenty of quick and easy ways of adding something extra to any back yard. We’ve got a range of wooden garden furniture and plenty of ideas to help.

One of the quickest and simplest ways to spice up any garden or patio is to use teak planters. Fill two or three of these with your favourite flowers for an easy display of colour without remodelling existing garden beds or losing any of the plants already in the ground. You can put teak planters anywhere, and they are great for concrete surfaces. For an effective year-round display plant them with tall topiary shrubs or do something different with a dwarf orange tree.

Consider adding a parasol or an umbrella to your wooden garden furniture arrangement. Shade in the hot summer months will mean you can comfortably spend more time eating or enjoying a cup of tea outside. The table will also make the perfect place for a potted fern or another shade loving plant.

A garden lounger will give you a whole new way of using your garden space. They provide a comfortable place to catch some rays or just enjoy the sun and the peace and quiet of the garden. If you’ve got children, the lounger is an ideal place to relax with a book while keeping an eye on the kids as they play outside. Some of our garden loungers can be folded up and stored out of the way when not in use, too.

Getting Creative with Garden Furniture

At Chic Teak we think that the versatility and design quality of our garden furniture sets has limitless potential; even extending outside of a garden space. So, why not get creative with your wooden garden furniture?

Considering that it is a space particularly open to the outdoors, a conservatory represents the perfect place to experiment with your garden furniture. You could, for example, utilise one of our fantastic teak garden tables in a conservatory space to create a dining experience that has both the advantage of being sheltered from the elements, as well enjoying the natural setting of the outdoors. In terms of practicality, displaying your wooden garden furniture in a conservatory space will also protect the wood during the colder months.

Indoor use of outdoor furniture doesn’t have to stop at conservatories, however, and much of our garden furniture would act as a perfect complement to the decor of any room in your house. In particular, wicker garden furniture can provide a remarkable “rustic” quality to, for example, a large bedroom, and is great way of getting a genuine piece of manmade furniture into a living space.

In fact, whether your home is a traditional or modern space, at Chic Teak such is the range and quality of our items that finding the perfect complement to your interior decor shouldn’t be too much of a problem. So why not revitalise your living space, and move the outdoors, indoors!

How to Accessorise a Garden Space

Monday, April 19th, 2010

At Chic Teak we think that a garden is just as important as the interior of a home. If, for example, you are preparing your house for sale, then it is important that your garden makes the right impression. Of course, a well decorated garden will not only help to sell a home, but will create a space that is “liveable” whatever the season, and will ensure that you get the most out of a garden space.

At Chic Teak we provide a great variety of garden furniture sets and garden accessories that can really elevate a space, making not only a practical area but also a place of natural elegance.

One of the most dramatic steps you can take to transform the garden is to install teak garden furniture. This can either be in form of extendable tables, ideal for larger gardens, or can be bistro sets, which are perfect for any size garden, and in particular courtyard gardens.

The options for garden decor don’t stop at furniture, however, and at Chic Teak we also offer a wide variety of teak garden accessories. For example, why not add some subtle and elegant items to a garden, such as wooden benches – perfect for creating a living space that is not only natural, but has the element of design.

However you choose to accessorise your garden, with Chic Teak you can be assured of only the most elegantly designed items, made from the best quality and most sustainably sourced materials.
