The Imperial chair is an ornate and attractive lounge chair decorated with traditional Indonesian carvings on the back with scroll shaped arms and lathe turned front legs.
Unlike our other teak chairs the Imperial chair is made from reclaimed teak that is salvaged from other teak items. This means every chair is beautifully unique, textured and not uniform in colour but nevertheless will all age to a lovely silvery grey over time. The actual ornate carvings are crafted by hand and though each carving follows traditional Indonesian patterns each design can vary from chair to chair, adding a mystical charm to every piece.
The Imperial chair is also available as a 2, 3 and 4 seater bench and can look particularly pleasing when combined together as a lounge set. Please see our bench section for more details.
Though this chair is made from salvaged teak the teak used is A Grade Heartwood teak and carefully kiln dried to less than 14% to ensure stability and a long life just like all our teak garden furniture.
Precision made by machine for fit, incorporating traditional mortice and tenon joinery, dowel and adhesive for maximum strength. With chamfered legs and a plastic ferrule to prevent splitting and noise when placed on wood or concrete.
Please note these decorative teak chairs must not be confused with inferior flat packed models made from less durable wood. This Imperial chair is assembled in our Indonesian factory and delivered to you fully assembled that ensures quality, stability and durability.
