Because teak is so durable and resistant, it stands head and shoulders above other materials that are used for making garden furniture sets. Iron furniture is very heavy to move and can retain heat when left out in sunlight. Tubular metals are not constructed to be very strong, and can sometimes break a little too easily. Plastic furniture can become faded and discoloured when left exposed in heat or sunlight for long periods. Although more expensive, teak is cooler and lighter than iron, stronger than tubular metals and tougher than plastic. It is also very easy to maintain. All you have to do is gently wipe off any dirt or pollen that may accrue on the surface of teak garden furniture, and periodically apply oils to enhance its durability.

Teak is strong and will stand up to long periods of use in all weathers. It also has a lovely honey colouring even when unfinished, and a close grain – no splinters. There is even a pleasing light scent, making it ideal for the task at hand.
