Garden Swing

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Wooden garden furniture offers many ways to enjoy your garden, but few are more satisfying than peacefully rocking in an outdoor swing seat. Garden swing seats are the single most relaxing addition to any wooden garden furniture set, as they can transport you to instant happiness in a moment. There really is no better way to appreciate the beauty of nature and the habits of wildlife than from the comfort of garden swing seats. Whether you are reading a book, enjoying a little doze or just observing the scenery, a swing seat is the perfect place to forget all of your worries. What could be better than sipping a refreshing drink outdoors while peacefully rocking back and forth?

However, there are problems with . There are times when bright sunshine or, more likely, sudden rain showers cut your relaxing swing times short. It can also be a bit of a chore having to wipe down your swing seat before you can use it for fear of sitting in bird droppings or raind drops. The solution to these small but significant problems is a swing seat with a canopy. The canopy material overhead provides ample protection from strong sunshine or any sudden showers from out of the blue. Instead of having to retreat indoors and observe nature from your window, a canopy swing seat allows you to relax and swing, no matter what the weather brings.

Arranging Garden Benches and Wooden Swing Seats

Teak garden benches make great additions to almost any outdoor space. They are durable, simple, and highly versatile. With a little thought they can be integrated into the existing design of most gardens to add a special feature that is visually effective and pleasant to use.

Larger teak garden benches and wooden swing seats are best nestled into a leafy space. Underneath a large shady tree is perfect. It will provide much needed shelter from the sun in the warmer months when you will probably get the most use from the bench. Aesthetically, leafy features help blend garden furniture sets into the garden scene and make them appear more natural.

To create a really beautiful and striking feature with a bench, site it under the bough of a sturdy, healthy tree and introduce a climbing plant like wisteria. Train it up the tree and it’ll grow naturally along the branches. After a few years – a fraction of the life of a quality teak garden bench – you’ll have a lightly scented and spectacular flowery seating nook.

If you’re not lucky enough to have a garden with established trees or enough space to grow them, you can create a simple bench feature in any empty space.  Place the bench against a wall or the garden boundary, and put a giant pot or a planter on each side with a tall shrub or a small tree in each.  Topiary plants are ideal, or for something that looks a little softer and produces flowers, choose ornamental cherry or dwarf apple trees.

Going beyond the basics of Wooden Garden Furniture

Garden furniture sets can be so much more than dull, blocky wooden garden tables and utilitarian garden chairs. While the table and chairs are still the key ingredients in great garden furniture sets, you can choose the right style to suit your needs and meet the demands of fashion!

The wooden garden table is the centrepiece for outdoor entertaining and family dining, so picking the right size is important. If in doubt, go for one that can be extended with an extra panel for special occasions and big gatherings. You should also match it to the size of your garden; too big and you will lose important open space and make your garden look cluttered. The garden chairs should match the table, and as they’re often more ornate, bring out a style- formal, casual, simple or richly shaped.

Of course, not everyone wants to entertain or eat in the garden. Happily, the wooden garden furniture family is as varied as gardens themselves. Garden park benches add a friendly, welcoming feel to a green space and look great in a leafy secluded nook or even just a part of the garden where nothing much like lies to grow.

For something a little more fun, we have wooden swing seats. The kids will love them and the adults will have a great place to relax and watch them play outdoors. If your garden is more open, how about some reclining garden chairs or loungers? Not just for beside the pool, you can also use one to create a perfect haven in the yard. Take a book and enjoy some time in the sun!
